School and childcare communities have always played an integral role in White Balloon Day. Over the past 20 years, teachers, parents, grandparents, staff and kids all over Australia have come together annually to recognise this important day on the child protection calendar.
To mark the 21st year of White Balloon Day, we have organised some fun and simple activities for schools and childcare centres to get involved in and show their support.
This year Bravehearts is holding a national art competition, asking our supporters to create chalk art murals to enter into our White Balloon Day Chalk Art Competition.
We want to see YOUR SCHOOL or CHILDCARE CENTRE create the biggest and best chalk mural, with the theme of White Balloons. There are no limits to what you create, but we would love to see your whole school community involved.HOW TO ENTER
Enter our super fun and exciting VIRTUAL BALLOON RACE! The race will be launched at the start of Child Protection Week, Monday 4th September from the steps of Parliament House in Canberra and raise funds for the prevention of child sexual assault.
The virtual balloons are influenced by real-life weather conditions and can be tracked on their journey in real-time. Balloons can be personalised with your own special message or school name and you can choose between different patterns, shapes and sizes!
It’s only $10 to buy a balloon in our Virtual Balloon Race – just imagine how much fun your group of kids would have being able to check and see each day where over Australia their balloon is flying and how it’s travelling!LEARN MORE
Here are some simple, yet creative ways your school or childcare centre could mark White Balloon Day this year.
Teachers, school staff, childcare workers, and other adults can take part in our social media campaign #WhoRUProtecing? and use social media to raise awareness about the prevention of child sexual assault. All you need to do is:
STEP 1: Snap a selfie with the name of who you are protecting this White Balloon Day written on your palm (i.e. ‘MY CHILDREN’ ‘AUSSIE KIDS’ ‘MY DAUGHTER’ ‘MY STUDENTS’ etc.)
STEP 2: Upload your selfie to social media accompanied by the hashtags #whoRUprotecting #WhiteBalloonDay #Bravehearts
Bravehearts will track and record these posts across social media and select the best examples to highlight on our own social media platforms on White Balloon Day.DOWNLOAD THE FULL SOCIAL MEDIA MESSAGING GUIDE

Once registered, Bravehearts can send your out your White Balloon Day kit, as well as keep in touch with you about White Balloon Day activities in the lead up to the big day, as well as offer you any support you may need for your planning. It also means we can acknowledge your involvement and properly thank you for your support.
